THE BASICS

The first thing that you should know about hydroponics is that although it's a science, it is very simple to put into practice. It really is easy for novices to grow with hydroponics successfully, but only if they apply the basics correctly.

We have already explained why you would consider hydroponics as the preferred way of growing your favourite plants, (see: Why Hydroponics?), and in the following pages we explain, one by one, the importance of following the basic guidlines. The graphic below lists the main areas for the grower to control, and once you have these in place you will be assured of success.

If anything goes wrong with your system ALWAYS review the basics!

  1. Lighting required 75,000 lumens
  2. Airflow 30 total air changes per hour (See the CO2 Hot Tip)
  3. Water quality 0.0 CF out of tap is preferred
  4. pH value of 6.3 for optimal nutrient uptake
  5. Temperature ambient 27°C
  6. Humidity 55% suitable
  7. Temperature nutrient solution 22°C
